TEHRAN – Iranian intelligence forces have successfully apprehended two terror cells linked to the notorious Jaish al-Adl group, preventing planned attacks in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

According to Iranian media reports on Monday, the individuals were arrested in the province’s Rask and Sarbaz Counties while preparing to carry out terrorist operations aimed at destabilizing the region.

The arrests were the result of extensive surveillance and a coordinated offensive led by Iranian intelligence, with the support of local law enforcement. Authorities revealed that the terrorists had planned to use firearms and explosives to disrupt security in the area. During the operation, arms caches belonging to the group were discovered and confiscated.

This recent success follows a string of violent incidents attributed to Jaish al-Adl, including a deadly attack in early October that claimed the lives of six people, among them a local commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and two police officers. Following the October attack, two additional terrorists were arrested in connection with the shooting.

Sistan and Baluchestan, a province that shares borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, has been a hotbed of violence in recent years, with frequent clashes between Iranian security forces and various militant groups, including Takfiri terrorists and drug traffickers. Jaish al-Adl, which operates from Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks targeting both civilians and security personnel in the region.
